More than one third of Pakistan has been submerged underwater after weeks of unprecedented heavy rain and flash floods causing millions to lose their homes and costing thousands of their lives.
The ruthless waves wiped away over 2 million homes, and destroyed over 13,000 km of road and more than 130 bridges, displacing 33 million people and drowning more than 1 million livestock.
But as the flood waters are starting to lessen, the REAL CHALLENGE is just unfolding.
In addition to hundreds of thousands of homes being destroyed, many public health facilities, hospitals, clinics, and water systems have also been damaged.
Families with both young and old are lying out in the open without shelter, drinking water, food, or medication, exposing them to a wide range of flood-related risks, diseases, and hazards, including drowning and injuries from damaged buildings.
